Iran's famous Yazd to boost tourism

The central historical Iranian province of Yazd plans to host more tourists in the area, an official says.

Yazd Province is boosting its number of ecolodges and inscribing its historical capital on the UNESCO World Heritage list, said the provincial governor general, Seyyed Mohammad Mirmohammadi.

“The time is ripe for tourism growth across the province as the sum of all its travel-associated indicators have improved over the past four years,” Mirmohammadi said.

He added that at least 113,900 foreign tourists visited the province during the past year.

Mirmohammadi also noted that the importance of ecotourism is high in attracting nature lover tourists to the province.

The historical city of Yazd is located between the northern Dasht-e Kavir and southern Dasht-e Lutat deserts in the central region of Iran.
